Hello! Maplewood's self-titled debut is available online now. Order yr copy at Tee Pee Records or Amazon.com or other fine retail establishments. . .
March 2007: Maplewood will be headlining at the new Luna Lounge in Williamsburg on Friday March 23. Showtime is 10:30. Cost is $10. Come down and hear us debut a bunch of songs that will be on the new album. . .
January 2007: The America album, Here and Now, is out from Sony/Burgundy, produced by James Iha and Adam Schlesinger and featuring input from the likes of Nada Surf, Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket, Ben Kweller, Stephen Bishop, Rusty Young, Russ Kunkel and even Will Robinson from "Lost in Space". How can you beat that? Oh, wait, check out track two: "Indian Summer," an amazing rendition of the first song from our debut record, sung by America's Dewey Bunnell with some added lyrical input from him, too. (No alligator lizards, but some pretty cool fireflies!) As everybody knows, we've all been big-time America heads since Maplewood Day 1, and we couldn't be more stoked to have contributed in our small way. (Added bonus: Ira played drums and Mark played guitar.) Grab a copy and be sure to stop off at www.venturahighway.com and say hello to Dewey and Gerry Beckley. Check out a WSJ article about the album. . . Maplewood joined America onstage at BB Kings in mid-January for a rendition of "Indian Summer" and a rockestra take on "Horse With No Name" -- see some pics.
September 2006: We've been spending the summer messing around in the
studio, getting mellow out in the country, having
babies, and other fun stuff. But here's the latest: The September Spin features Maplewood in a cover story
about an apparent resurgence of soft rock. Check out
our tiny visages and Mark's quotes on America (the
band) and bongs. . .
Speaking of America, a song of ours -- "Indian Summer"
-- has been covered by America on their
much-anticipated comeback record, produced by James
Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and Adam Schlesinger
(Fountains of Wayne). It was a blast to be in the
studio with these living legends, and to hear Dewey
Bunnell -- the guy who sang "Horse with No Name" -- lay
down the vocals on this familiar Maplewood jam. . . We're returning to Germany next week to play the
amazing Reeperbahn Festival www.reeperbahnfestival.com
in our home away from home, Hamburg. The festival
features the likes of The Rapture, Radio 4, and
Nouvelle Vague, and the Maplewood show is scheduled
for Friday, September 22, at 11:30 at the club Knust.
Tell all your German cousins and ex-spouses!
March 2006: Maplewood will be playing at the Saltmines in DUMBO Brooklyn on Friday March 24 at 10 pm with Goldrush (a fantastic English Band). This is a show not to be missed. We're just back from a tour of Germany, Austria & Switzerland and are primed to play an extra long set of Canyon Rock for our NYC brothers & sisters. The Saltmines is one of the best places in the city to see bands, Goldrush rules, and it'll cost like $5 (BYOB/BYOS). What else do you need? Directions, details, etc. . . Speaking of Deutschland, we've posted some pics here. Vielen Dank to Tapete Records and to our favorite German Schlagzeuger Lars Plogschties.

A night to remember. We'll be playing next at Southpaw on Friday October 28 -- click for details. Our debut came out in Deutschland in August & reviews are in & seem to be good. A sample translation from the Google translator: "Marks of Rozzo, Steve Koester, Craig beautiful, Brian Filosa and Irish Republican Army Elliot (the latter admits of the great Nada Surf in the best way as a third) met simply occasionally in Craigs to the studio re-designed cellar in New York, smoked a few tasty herbs and took up over more than one year distribute a wonderful relaxte plate." We couldn't have said it better -- more tasty translations. We'll be touring Germany the first couple weeks in February. Details to follow. . .
July 2005:
"Been away. . . Haven't seen you in awhile. . . How you been? Have you changed your style?" OK, so we're gonna make it up to you with a FREE SHOW in FORT GREENE PARK on Thur. July 21 at 6:30 pm. Maplewood outdoors, in their natural element, free and easy -- click for details. Do not miss. . . What else? Maplewood recorded a new song called "Two Dark Birds" due out on the upcoming Tee Pee Records Compilation. We're also anxiously awaiting the release of Not Lame's Buffalo Springfield tribute album for which we recorded a flute-laden version of the Neil classic "I Am A Child." . . . And better yet, Maplewood has just signed a deal with Germany's Tapete Records for European release of our debut. Look for an August release and a winter tour. Ausgezeichnet!
